Today representatives of Kansas VFW District 1, Holton VFW 1367, and Grahem-Herbers Valley Falls VFW 3084 presented Mrs. Spade the 9-12 Kansas Citizen Educator of the year award in recognition ceremony. Mrs. Spade will now be in the running for the National Citizen Educator of the year to be announced this Spring. We are fortunate to have educators such as Mrs. Spade here at VFHS and USD 338. Congrats Mrs. Spade and good luck at the National level.

HS Basketball Update: The Dragons will travel to ACCHS tomorrow night, 2/9/24, to take on the Tigers. The games will begin at 4:30pm. Due to illness on both teams, the JV Girls and the JV Boys will only be playing two quarters a piece.

On Monday, February 5th, Valley Falls Middle School and High school hosted a guest speaker, Libby Davis from The Cooper Davis Memorial Foundation. Also known as “Keepin’ Clean for Coop”. The message, one pill can kill, made an impact on our student body overall with great information that will influence them to make good choices throughout their lives. “We learned about the dangers of fentanyl and what Narcan was and how it can save lives.” VFHS Student. “We learned a lot about how illegal drugs are being faked and the dangers associated with them.” VFHS Student. “It was crazy to find out that Kansas leads the nation in fentanyl overdose rates in teenagers.” VFHS student.

HS Basketball Updates: The Dragons will be hosting McLouth tonight with games starting at 5:00pm. The order of games will be JV Boys, Varisty Girls, Senior Night, Varsity Boys. All games will be played in the West Gym. The Dragons will also be in action tomorrow night 2/7/24, taking on Maur Hill at Maur Hill. Games will start at 4:00pm. Order of games will be JV Girls, JV Boys, Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys. Go Dragons!

Hello VFHS Dragon Family, The Spring 2024 Parent-Teacher Conference time is upon us here at VFHS. Knowing this information, I wanted to thank you for your continued support for our students and staff throughout the year. I will set forth the schedule and associated expectations below for the Parent Teacher Conferences to be held February 15, 2024 in the USD 338 East Gymnasium from 1-8 pm. P/T Conferences: Scheduled for February 15th from 1-8 pm. We look forward to working with all parents to ensure your student’s success while at VFHS. We will only offer in-person conferences during this date. However, if you and your child need an alternative conference time please work with your student’s seminar teacher to set up an alternate meeting. Please return the bottom of this page to the office letting us know your preferred time on the schedule. Times will be scheduled for your meeting as close to possible in the time slot you choose.. In-Person Meetings -- We ask that the following guidelines be followed: Enter at the SOUTHEAST Doors of the East Gym Parents with your VFHS student only. Please make arrangements for any non-VFHS student children, as supervision will not be available for children to be on the playground at the time of conferences. Overall Expectations: Your student will be expected to have their chromebooks and share their screen with parents and their seminar teacher. Students will need to meet all requirements of the rubric below to achieve a grade of 100 points overall. Conference Grading Rubric: 1. Introduction of meeting structure to parent(s), students are able to login to and share their screen (10 pts). 2. Student review of their overall academic progress with their parents and teacher. (25 pts) 3. Student review of their Xello lessons and assignments. (25 pts) 4. Student led discussion of their career interests and goals with parent(s) and teacher. (20 pts) 5. Student led discussion of the pre-enrollment process for next fall using PowerSchool. (20 pts) Grade Total:______/100 pts Please mark your preference.
