Have you ever paid a bill? Are you 18 or older? Would you like to have fun helping students at Valley Falls practice finances? YES! Then, please join us as a volunteer for Reality U's financial simulator.
USD 338 will be hosting Reality U for our 8th and 10th grade students on the morning of September 9, 2024 in the east gym. The student session will be from 9:30 to 11:00
We need 24 volunteers and you will be trained. Contact john.hamon@vfalls338.com if you can help. Time for volunteers would be from 9:00 to 11:00.
What does it look like to volunteer? The students take a pre-survey of what they want their life to look like at 26 years old. When they arrive at Reality U, they will get a paycheck based on their survey and need to go pay their bills for the month! Volunteers will get to run a booth as a sales rep for housing, phone, transportation, and more! The booth info and training will be provided. We just need YOU! Together, we get to help students connect their current education with their financial future! Valley Falls schools participated in Reality U last year and it was a great experience for both students and volunteers!

Opening ceremony with an Olympic theme started this morning off with excitement and recognition of our gold medal winning staff! Cheerleaders and Sparky added to the enthusiasm as we look forward to a great school year.

Mark Your Calendar! Picture Day for Valley Falls Schools is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 3rd. This includes PK-12 Individual, and Middle & High School FB, VB, and XC. Be sure to bring your uniform, shoes, etc.. This event's Order Code is 87253JF. Online ordering is available before and after Picture Day. Shipping and handling charges may apply to orders placed after Picture Day.
6th Grade Band Showcase is TONIGHT at 6pm in the Band Room. All Middle School students who don't have an instrument already, and would like to, are encouraged to come as well. A representative from Manning Music will be here to help you with this process. This will be a great opportunity for students to get instruments and meet our new band teacher, Phoebe Stottlemire.
USD 338 is looking for a part time teacher aide (2.5 to 3 hours) to work with elementary students in an art classroom. If interested contact john.hamon@vfalls338.com or susan.grey@vfalls338.com. Highlights from todays all-staff meeting. The Kansas Commissioner of Education, Dr. Randy Watson, challenged each of us to make the future better than the present for any student and to believe we have the power to make it so. A gym full of dedicated staff had a day full of learning, exchanging ideas and preparing classrooms.
Parents:
Fall practices will start on Monday, August 19th. In order for your student to participate, we must have a copy of their physical as well as their appendix forms. Please turn them in to either Wyatt Hofstra or Stacy Cervantez. Also just a reminder that Impact Testing will be tomorrow, Friday, August 16th from 11am-3pm in Mrs. Glassel's room. This is for 6th grade, 7th grade, 9th grade, and 11th grade students.
