We are fortunate to have a speaker from Johnny’s Ambassadors speak to our 8-12th grades on Wednesday, October 29th. The speaker will share about the dangers of THC. A link of a previously recorded adult/parent version of the meeting will be coming in Friday’s parent update. This will allow you to view the information students received so that you can have a discussion with your child afterwards. You can find more information at johnnysambassadors.org

The lady Dragons finished their cross country season at a very muddy and sloppy regional meet, out of range of medals or state. They are a fantastic group of ladies and it has been a joy to watch them run. Congrats on a great season.

Transportation for both Highland Tech and Washburn Tech will leave VFHS at 7 am as regularly scheduled throughout the remainder of this week. Given there will not be classes in the building, students who attend Vo-Tech will have classes at their respective campus each morning.

This year, NAESP (National Association of Elementary School Principals) is proud to welcome 43 extraordinary school leaders to the 2025 class of NAESP National Distinguished Principals (NDPs) which includes our very own Susan Grey!!

Established in 1984, the NDP program recognizes pre-K through grade 8 public school leaders from all across the country. Public school elementary and middle-level principals are nominated by peers in their state, and final selections are made by committees appointed by each of NAESP’s state affiliate offices.

These exemplary school leaders will travel to Washington, D.C., from Oct. 23 – 24, to participate in two days of events that culminate in an awards banquet to honor their accomplishments.

A list of the principals recognized throughout the country: https://www.naesp.org/programs/recognition/ndp/2025-ndps/

CONGRATULATIONS SUSAN!! We are proud of you!
