Last Thursday was our 100th day of school. To celebrate, our Kindergarten and First Grade students had fun rotating thru six different activity stations. Mrs. Roy also dressed the part and had fun singing and moving with her music class students.
Given that USD 338 is not in session and Vo-tech at Washburn Tech and Highland Tech is still in session USD 338 will provide transportation tomorrow just as a regular attendance day for our Tech students.
Exciting and hard-fought game against Troy for a Dragon win! Collin Kearney received another award for his 1,000th point in his three-year basketball career. Congratulations to Collin and his family & friends, who were there cheering him on!
High school students: an anonymous donor has paid for students to attend the homecoming dance tomorrow night. Have a great time!
Winter Royalty introduced and crowned tonight at halftime of the boy's game. Candidates were: Tannah Bailey, Aubre Garza, Katlyn Gier, Faith Hefty, Brooklynn Schmelzle, Lauren Thomas, Duncan Alverenga, Colby Clark, Collin Kearney, Clay Kirkham, Samuel Sitting Up, and Cash Stein.
Recognition between varsity games tonight included Senior Collin Kearney, who reached his 500th rebound during Wednesday night’s game against Perry-Lecompton. Congratulations Collin!
A check was also presented by Jody Lockhart and her family to the USD 338 Education Foundation in the amount of $342,586 from the James Clulo Estate to be used for student scholarships. Clulo was a Spanish and History teacher at Valley Falls High School for 21 years. Mr. C is remembered by his former students for his fiery lectures and the yardstick that he would bang on the file cabinet when he needed to make an especially important point. Valley Falls was home for Mr. Clulo. He loved this community and especially loved the school and the joy he received while teaching here. Because of this love, Mr. Clulo left this special gift for the students of Valley Falls. Mr. C’s passion for education will continue to impact future generations of Dragon students!

The Spring 2026 Parent-Teacher Conference time is upon us at VFHS. Knowing this information, I wanted to thank you for your continued support for our students and staff throughout the year.
I will set forth the schedule and associated expectations below for the Parent Teacher Conferences to be held February 19, 2026 in the USD 338 East Gymnasium from 1-8 pm.
P/T Conferences: Scheduled for February 19th from 1-8 pm. We look forward to working with all parents to ensure your student’s success while at VFHS. We will only offer in-person conferences during this date. However, if you and your child need an alternative conference time please work with your student’s seminar teacher to set up an alternate meeting. Please return the bottom of this page to the office letting us know your preferred time on the schedule. Times will be scheduled for your meeting as close to possible in the time slot you choose..
In-Person Meetings -- We ask that the following guidelines be followed:
Enter at the SOUTHEAST Doors of the East Gym
Parents with your VFHS student only. Please make arrangements for any non-VFHS student children, as supervision will not be available for children to be on the playground at the time of conferences.
Overall Expectations:
Your student will be expected to have their Chromebook and share their screen with parents and their seminar teacher.
Students will need to meet all requirements of the rubric below to achieve a grade of 100 points overall.
Conference Grading Rubric:
1. Introduction of meeting structure to parent(s), students are able to login to and share their screen (10 pts).
2. Student review of their overall academic progress with their parents and teacher. (20 pts)
3. Student review of their Xello lessons and assignments. (20 pts)
4. Student led discussion of their career interests and goals with parent(s) and teacher. (20 pts)
5. Student led discussion of the pre-enrollment process for next fall using PowerSchool. (20 pts)
6. Student displays professionalism during presentation (10 pts)
Grade Total:______/100 pts

Great job by both the boys and girls last night with a sweep over Jackson Heights. The Lady Dragons won 39-26 and the Dragons won 48-40! Way to go Dragons!
