We conducted our school spelling bee today. Congratulations to all who participated!! The 5th-6th champion was Harley Brown with the runner-up being Colt Blick. The 7th-8th champion was Violette Whipp and their runner-up was Jayden Brede. The County Bee will be held at Jeff West Middle School on February 15th at 7 PM.

USD 338 Board Members Leading for Success!
January is School Board Recognition Month, a great opportunity to say thank you to the USD 338 Valley Falls Board of Education who are committed to the success of every student in our community.
Our board of education includes (from L to R) Jesse Nickelson, Donny Smith, Aaron Sprang, Caleb Clark, Kimberly Kirkham, Georgia Hollis, Jesica Clark.
These seven community leaders volunteer hundreds of hours attending meetings, reading reports and discussing plans and programs to support educational achievement.
USD 338 encourages the entire community to thank a school board member, not only this month but throughout the entire year.
We have some changes in the PK-8 office that became official last night at the Board meeting. Wendy Gibbens has left us to pursue another career. We wish her the best of luck! Becky Nickelson has taken over in the Office. Becky is a graduate of USD 338 and has worked in the district full time for the past five years as a teacher aide subbing for the district since 2008 prior to that. Becky and her husband Jesse have four children that attend USD 338 schools.

Saturday, Powerlifters competed at McLouth. There were schools ranging from 1A to 6A and over 500 lifters all together. We had the most lifters ever as a program with 21 competing! We ended up with 9 total medals and several PRs.
Our Women's team placed 3rd!! Only behind Santa Fe Trail (3A) and Gardner-Edgerton (5A). Other highlights:
- AJ Reeves won his class
- Renay Myers won her class with Maddie Miller 2nd behind her
- Lilly Darveaux won her class
- Haley Nellis got 2nd in her class
Also, as of THIS moment in time, our Women are 1st in NEKL as a team!
Congrats to the team members and Coach Hofstra on the success!
