HORIZON AWARD 

USD 338 is proud and excited to announce that Phoebe Stottlemire has been named as a recipient of the Kansas Horizon Award. This award recognizes exemplary first year teachers who perform in a way that distinguishes them as outstanding. She received a phone call from Dr. Randy Watson, who is the Kansas Education Commissioner. He informed her of the great news at the beginning of her high school band class. Congratulations Ms. Stottlemire! You are a great educator and we are very fortunate to have you working with our students!  More information about this award can be found here

DRAGONS DEN BOOSTER CLUB

The Dragons Den Booster Club recognized Chris Hansford as the Voice of the Dragons last Friday.  Congratulations Chris!  The next meeting is January 18th at 5pm in the Delaware Township Library's meeting room.

CHUCK-A-DUCK FUNDRAISER

TIPS for 

Helping an Anxious Child

(Part 1 of 3)

  • Empathize by saying-”This is really hard for you right now.” If they could stop worrying, they would.

  • Give fear a name such as “worry brain”, “worry bug”, “fearasaurus”...

  • It’s okay to talk back to worry - be bossy... “That’s enough worry brain! Stop telling me I should be scared. My mom is here to keep me safe.”

  • Pick a calming strategy and practice ahead of time. (Calming ideas shared next week.)
