Students had a fantastic Forensic's Meet today. Jordan Nichols finished 3rd and Christine Montgomery 4th in Informative Speech. Chandler Fienhage finished 6th in impromptu. Catherine Montgomery finished 2nd in Poetry and 4th in Prose. The Team overall finished 4th - just shy of bringing home a plaque. Great job everyone!!

Seventh and eighth grade students filled and embellished “survivor kits” for our local police/first responder appreciation reception. This middle school community service event is sponsored by VFMS Student Council. Local police/first responders and officers with Jefferson County Sheriff Department have been invited to attend this Friday morning’s event and share hot cocoa and holiday cookies with our middle school students.

Valley Falls Yearbook Receives Recognition! Josten's Representative, Jeff Jasper, arrived at Valley Falls High School with a surprise for the journalism class from last year. The 2018-2019 Dragon Yearbook with a theme of “Picture This” received recognition from Jostens with a National Yearbook Program of Excellence Award. The 2018-2019 Valley Falls yearbook included: Editor Reagan Kirkwood, Assistant Editor Ashley Wenzl, Photo Editor Caymun Farrell, and staff members Laikyn Hawk, Seth DeLong, Nathan Pickerell, Leir Belinchon Zan, Kyndra McGuire, Chase Elliott, Trenton Kraxner, and Aiden Sieve. Annette Ostmeyer serves as advisor for yearbook.

The VFHS Trap Team Finished 2nd place in their conference in the Kansas High School Clay Target League. Brooklyn Correll-1st place and Emma Montgomery-2nd place overall conference high score females. Dallas Clark-3rd place and Denten Elias-6th place overall conference high score males. On October 20th the team participated in a day of giving and gathered items for the VF Food Pantry.
Community pep rally for Cross Country team competing at State scheduled for Thursday, October 31st at 3 pm in the west gym. We will conduct a send off at 8:15 am on the west side of the HS on Saturday. Boys will run at 11:45 am at the Wamego Country Club. We hope you will help us support our athletes. To our knowledge, this is our 2nd team to qualify for CC State. The last year was in the late 1990’s. Go Dragons!

Great meet for Dragon CC at Jackson Heights. The boys varsity team placed 2nd overall with several runners earning individual medals. Noah Hefty got 3rd, Dawson Branam got 6th, Thayer Coleman got 12th, Cameron Yates got 15th, and Brennen Miller got 20th. On the girls side Serena Toll earned a varsity metal placing 15th, Caitlyn Thomas also medaled in the JV division placing 4th. The varsity teams now look forward to regionals on Saturday where they will try to qualify for state.

Congratulations Jaci Brinker. At the end of last season Jaci recorded her 1,000th Kill for her HS volleyball career. She was recognized this evening for this accomplishment! We know she has already added many more to this number this senior year! Individual standings in the conference include Dallas Clark - 2nd, Carter Allen - 5th, Denton Elias - 8th, Nate Hawk - 16th, Thayer Coleman - 18th, Garrett Steinlicht - 23rd; Brooklyn Correll - 1st, Emma Montgomery - 6th, and Haley Nellis - 12th. Overall State rankings - Dallas Clark - 35th and Carter Allen 90th out of approximately 1,700 competitors. Dallas and Carter made the All-State Team.
