High School: Principal Notes

Letter from the High School Principal

by Jacques Molleker

This week is MAP testing.  It is a test that allows us to see where the students are based on their skills in reading, mathematics and science.  The data is used to determine what classes and materials are most appropriate for the students.  These tests are our initial screening test to detect areas of difficulty for our student.

Freshmen are testing on Wednesday 9/1/2010

Sophomores are Thursday 9/2/2010

Juniors are Friday 9/3/2010

The first football game of this year is on Friday 9/2/2010.  We go to Nemaha Valley and the game starts at 7:00 p.m.

Our first volleyball competition is at McLouth on Tuesday 8/31/2010.

Parade Route
The route of the parade has changed this year in order to accommodate to construction. We will head north on Oak St. Turn right and head east on Mary St. Turn left and head north on Sycamore St (by Simple Simons). Turn left and head west on Broadway St. Turn left and head south on Lynn St. End at the football field parking lot.

Community members are invited to enter floats in the parade by emailing Katie.Ackerman@usd338.com.

If you have not met Mitchell Spade yet introduce yourself..  He is teaching science at the high school.  He has good ideas on how to get the students more involved in learning science.  (Yes, his mother is Deb Spade who is already teaching for us.)

While you are here on the district web site, be sure to take a look at the calendar so you don't miss any of your favorite events.

Remember next Monday, 9/6/2010 is Labor Day and we do not have school.

Have a good day.

Be sure to take a look at the teacher pages for the high school.  They will contain information that might be helpful.
