The 4th grade and Chandler delivered the collected hygiene product to the Valley Falls Food pantry on March 6th.

FCCLA sponsored the event throughout the month of January as a Chapter Community Service project for Chandler and Catherine entitled “Drive to Thrive”.    The purpose was to collect as many hygiene products as possible to help our local Food Pantry.  Earlier in the year Chandler and Catherine helped with the Clothing and Food Drives that Y-Teens conducted, but this drive was expanded throughout the entire school!

Valley Falls schools really have caring students and community members, 462 items were collected for this Hygiene drive that ranged from toilet paper to bath soap and Band-Aids.   The class that was awarded snack treats for the most items collected was the 4th grade, with 104  items brought by 32 students and their families!  Thank you to all that donated.  The Food Pantry Coordinators were very appreciative of the huge number of supplies as well as the assistance of the 4th grade and Chandler in delivering the items to the Food Pantry.

Holiday Dinner 2016 “That’s Christmas to Me” was a huge success once again!  On December 7th, that first cold and snow spell of the season was the day for our students to perform, prepare, serve, entertain and enjoy the company of our area senior citizens!  The Culinary Essentials class prepared all the food, Graphic design class created gift cards and produced photos for all to take home, Mrs. Turner’s art classes helped paint the backdrop for the photos and Mrs. Spade’s National Honor Society students were our waiters and waitresses, Mr. Pence’s vocal group sang many Christmas carols and the 2nd grade also entertained us.  Thanks to all that enjoyed the day with us and for the opportunity for all these programs to showcase what they have learned!

Thanks to the efforts of Rachel Woodgate, Leia Johnston and Kirah Johnston, the Healthy Holiday treats were enjoyed by many for both the Elementary and Middle/High School concerts, held on December 15th and 19th!  They worked hard to plan and prepare the refreshments.  I hope you learned a few tips on how to make your Holiday eating a little more health from the display board that Rachel prepared.  We would like to thank the PTO for funding the refreshments.  It looked like they were appreciated, there were no leftovers!!

January brings FCCLA STAR event preparation and February 1st will be our competition day!  Many project ideas are underway and will be acted upon throughout these months.
