The Valley Falls Rec Commission is looking for volunteers to help with the Helen Stewart Fishing Derby and other Grasshopper Falls Days Activities. The Centenerian Club is also looking for students to help with the Labor Day Marathon Tournament. Even though service learning is not a graduation requirement, students are encouraged to volunteer for these service opportunities. Students should also continue to get their hours verified and turn the paperwork into the office so the hours can be documented on their transcripts for scholarships and college applications. NHS members will also continue to be required to complete service learning hours.

Federal law requires that all men register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Now, 17-year-old men can submit their registration information early on the Internet (www.sss.gov), or by filling out a form at any post office. Selective Service registration is required to be eligible for a federal student loan, job training, most federal jobs, and U.S. citizenship.
