Site Council Minutes
Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Attendance: Jeanie Frakes, Susan Grey, Jolina Wildeman, Jason Pickerell, Patty Bendure, Chris Hansford, Andy Conser, Darla Edwards
The council welcomed our newest member of our site council, Andy Conser. Susan reviewed this year’s meeting times for site council and the dates site council members will attend Board of Education meetings. Meeting dates are listed below…
Our meeting dates for the school year 2008-2009 are as follows…
o Sept. 24th
o Oct. 29th
o Nov. 19th
o Jan. 21st
o Feb. 25th
o Apr. 22nd
Meeting will begin at 5:30 and will be held in Chris Hansford’s classroom.
New Business:
• Setting goals for 2008-2009:
o The council discussed possible goals for the year. Susan suggested “School Safety” as our overall goal for the year. The district will be updating our emergency preparedness plan, establishing a crisis team, and reviewing all necessary student drills. Susan will break this topic down to allow for more focused discussion at each meeting.
• Technology:
o Infrastructure is an issue that will need to improve for our school.
o Susan created a simple on-line survey that the council completed on their use of technology. Results will be reviewed next month.
o The site council members also perused our school’s website for instant access to our school.
o The immediate goal of our building is to utilize available technology more efficiently.
• Construction Update:
o Work has begun on our Industrial Art’s building with concrete work being completed this week.
Our next meeting will be on October 29th at 5:30 PM in Mr. Hansford’s classroom. Anyone is invited to attend. Our topics of discussion – School Safety (Evacuation Drills)
