Elementary School: Principal Notes

Principal Update

June

by Susan Grey

Summer is upon us even though it still feels like a rainy April outside.  We have completed yet another successful school year.  The students accomplished much and demonstrated much success on all district and state assessments, new ideas were successfully implemented such as the Parent/Community Open House Nights, attempts to improve communication included increased classroom and grade level newsletters along with web-site postings, we welcomed new staff members and new students, we successfully passed our bond issue, etc.  Our successful year was made possible due to the much appreciated parent and community support.  We have worked together to make our school district one of the best.

Take time this summer to enjoy your children and families.  Family time is so very important.  There are many activities available in our region that doesn’t require much travel or money.  The following link is our official Kansas web site - http://www.kansas.gov/index.php.  This site provides detailed information links about sites to visit and activities to attend here in Kansas. We have several fun activities close by such as the KU Natural History Museum, Gage Park - Mini-Train & Carousel, Kansas Museum of History, KSU Insect Zoo, Kansas Underground Salt Museum in Hutchinson, the Capitol building in Topeka, the Flint Hills, and the list goes on and on.

We will be conducting Summer School June 2nd to June 27th from 8:30 to 11:30.  Students should enter the building from the south playground doors.  Doors will be opened at 8:25 each morning. There will be no supervision on the playground prior to this time.  Please do not send students early.

Grade cards and elementary yearbooks will be available on June 19th 8 AM to 8 PM through the elementary office.  Please make arrangements to have items picked-up on this date.  Any items not distributed on June 19th will be held till the following school year.

Have a safe and enjoyable summer!
